From the days following the Revolution to the dark times before the Civil War, America expanded its borders from the east coast of the continent to the west coast, and from the the 49th parallel in the north to the banks of the Rio Grande in the south. Although there was a vast amount of country in between, it was during this time that the borders of the United States were established. This was when the westward exploration of America took place. Now came the explorers, mountain men, fur traders, and immigrants. Those looking for something and those just moving to a place where they might provide better for their families. New lands, new skies, and a new beginning. For some, their dreams would be fulfilled. For others, their graves would mark the road west. But go they must, and therein lies our story. Let us also go now. To the lands of the setting sun, where no white man has ever been and where there was always something new over the horizon..............
